MOLYKOTE L-1568

Main features

  • Lower-Viscosity Process-Gas Lubrication
  • Wide-Range PAO Viscosity Control
  • Defined Oxygen-Service Limit

Product Description

MOLYKOTE L-1568 Process Gas Oil is an ISO VG 68 PAO process-gas oil for compressors and vacuum pumps handling corrosive gases such as hydrogen chloride or methyl chloride. It has typical kinematic viscosity of 68 cSt at 40 deg C and 10 cSt at 100 deg C, with a viscosity index of 140. The specialized formulation includes a C1 additive package. Because the oil is not formulated with antioxidants, total oxygen should be no more than 2% of the gas stream. This lower-viscosity grade is for the specified process-gas service.

Key features

  • ISO VG 68 Process-Gas Profile: Typical viscosity is 68 cSt at 40 deg C for lower-viscosity process-gas lubrication.
  • Corrosive-Gas Application: The oil is intended for compressors or vacuum pumps handling hydrogen chloride or methyl chloride.
  • Gas-Stream Oxygen Limit: Total oxygen should be no more than 2% of the gas stream.

Applications

Process-gas compressors; highly corrosive or reactive gas service including hydrogen chloride and methyl chloride; vacuum pumps where specified by the manufacturer.

Specific Gravity
Specific gravity (SG) is the ratio of the density of a substance to the density of a reference substance; equivalently, it is the ratio of the mass of a substance to the mass of a reference substance for the same given volume. For liquids, the reference substance is almost always water (1), while for gases, it is air (1.18) at room temperature. Specific gravity is unitless.
