Harmonization Code : 3907.30.00.40 | Epoxy Mold Compounds containing by weight more than 70 % silicon dioxide

LORD 7411

Main features

  • 280-380% Cured Elongation
  • 1,000-5,000 cP at 82 deg C
  • Single-Component Moisture Cure

Product Description

LORD 7411 is a single-component, moisture-cure urethane adhesive for bonding Hytrel, TPU, Nylon 11 and other thermoplastics to polyester and Kevlar fiber reinforcement in hose manufacturing. The blue paste is 100% solids and requires no component mixing or oven cure. For application, the adhesive is heated to 38-93 deg C; at 82 deg C its typical viscosity is 1,000-5,000 cP. After cure, typical tensile strength is 5,500 psi and elongation is 280-380%, with tear strength of 750 pli. A T-peel value of 50-55 pli is reported on Hytrel 5556.

Key features

  • Heated-Application Rheology: Typical viscosity is 1,000 to 5,000 cP at 82 deg C.
  • Cured Flexibility: Typical cured elongation is 280 to 380%.
  • No-Mix Solids Content: The one-component moisture-cure urethane is supplied at 100% solids and requires no component mixing.

Applications

Bonding Hytrel, TPU, Nylon 11 and other thermoplastics to polyester or Kevlar reinforcement in hose manufacturing.

Physical Properties
Viscosity
Viscosity is a measurement of a fluid’s resistance to flow. Viscosity is commonly measured in centiPoise (cP). One cP is defined as the viscosity of water and all other viscosities are derived from this base. MPa is another common unit with a 1:1 conversion to cP. A product like honey would have a much higher viscosity -around 10,000 cPs- compared to water. As a result, honey would flow much slower out of a tipped glass than water would. The viscosity of a material can be decreased with an increase in temperature in order to better suit an application

Thermal Properties
Flash Point
The flashpoint of a solvent is the lowest possible temperature at which it can vaporize to form an ignitable vapor. Flashpoint is often confused with “autoignition temperature”, which is the temperature at which a solvent ignites without an ignition source.
93 °C
Mechanical Properties
Elongation
Elongation is the process of lengthening something. It is a percentage that measures the initial, unstressed, length compared to the length of the material right before it breaks. It is commonly referred to as Ultimate Elongation or Tensile Elongation at break.
