LORD 410

Main features

  • 20-30 Minute Working Window
  • 0.25 mm 19GB Bondline Control
  • 4:1 Volume System Mixing

Product Description

LORD 410 is an off-white to tan acrylic adhesive component used with LORD Accelerator 19 or 19GB in a two-part structural bonding system. The adhesive component has typical viscosity of 100,000-350,000 cP at 25 deg C and density of 1,096-1,156 kg/m3. Mixed systems use a 4:1 adhesive-to-accelerator volume ratio, with a 20-30 minute working time and 60-120 minute handling-strength time at 24 deg C. Accelerator 19GB contains 0.25 mm glass spheres for bondline control; Accelerator 19 is used when thickness is controlled by other means or is greater than 0.25 mm.

Key features

  • Component Rheology: The LORD 410 adhesive component has a typical viscosity of 100,000 to 350,000 cP at 25 deg C.
  • Mixed-System Work Time: Systems mixed with Accelerator 19 or 19GB have a typical working time of 20 to 30 minutes at 24 deg C.
  • Bondline Control: Accelerator 19GB uses 0.25 mm glass spheres to control adhesive bondline thickness.

Applications

Structural bonding of engineered thermoplastics and metals within LORD 410 systems using Accelerator 19 or 19GB.

Physical Properties
Viscosity
Viscosity is a measurement of a fluid’s resistance to flow. Viscosity is commonly measured in centiPoise (cP). One cP is defined as the viscosity of water and all other viscosities are derived from this base. MPa is another common unit with a 1:1 conversion to cP. A product like honey would have a much higher viscosity -around 10,000 cPs- compared to water. As a result, honey would flow much slower out of a tipped glass than water would. The viscosity of a material can be decreased with an increase in temperature in order to better suit an application

Thermal Properties
Flash Point
The flashpoint of a solvent is the lowest possible temperature at which it can vaporize to form an ignitable vapor. Flashpoint is often confused with “autoignition temperature”, which is the temperature at which a solvent ignites without an ignition source.
15 °C
Glass Transition Temperature (Tg)
The glass transition temperature for organic adhesives is a temperature region where the polymers change from glassy and brittle to soft and rubbery. Increasing the temperature further continues the softening process as the viscosity drops too. Temperatures between the glass transition temperature and below the decomposition point of the adhesive are the best region for bonding. The glass-transition temperature Tg of a material characterizes the range of temperatures over which this glass transition occurs.
72 °C
Mechanical Properties
Elongation
Elongation is the process of lengthening something. It is a percentage that measures the initial, unstressed, length compared to the length of the material right before it breaks. It is commonly referred to as Ultimate Elongation or Tensile Elongation at break.
