EPOCAP 59174

Main features

  • 500 cP Part B Viscosity
  • 100:30 49174/59174 Weight Mix
  • Electrical Potting and Impregnation

Product Description

EPOCAP 59174 Part B is the amber hardener supplied as Part B for the EPOCAP 49174/59174 epoxy encapsulation system. At 25 deg C, Part B has a typical viscosity of 500 cP and specific gravity of 0.96. It pairs with black 49174 Part A at 30 parts hardener per 100 parts resin by weight, or 50 parts per 100 by volume. After mixing, the low-viscosity electrical potting system is used for impregnation of coils, transformers, time-delay relays, and other low- or medium-voltage assemblies. Final cured performance applies to the complete 49174/59174 system rather than Part B alone.

Key features

  • Part B Viscosity: Typical viscosity is 500 cP at 25 deg C, with specific gravity of 0.96 for the amber hardener.
  • 49174/59174 Mix Ratio: The paired system uses 100:30 by weight or 100:50 by volume.
  • Electrical Potting and Impregnation: The complete paired system is used for coils, transformers, time-delay relays, and related assemblies.

Applications

Part B hardener for the 49174/59174 electrical potting and encapsulation system used with tightly wound coils, transformers, time-delay relays, and related devices.

Specific Gravity
Specific gravity (SG) is the ratio of the density of a substance to the density of a reference substance; equivalently, it is the ratio of the mass of a substance to the mass of a reference substance for the same given volume. For liquids, the reference substance is almost always water (1), while for gases, it is air (1.18) at room temperature. Specific gravity is unitless.

Physical Properties
Viscosity
Viscosity is a measurement of a fluid’s resistance to flow. Viscosity is commonly measured in centiPoise (cP). One cP is defined as the viscosity of water and all other viscosities are derived from this base. MPa is another common unit with a 1:1 conversion to cP. A product like honey would have a much higher viscosity -around 10,000 cPs- compared to water. As a result, honey would flow much slower out of a tipped glass than water would. The viscosity of a material can be decreased with an increase in temperature in order to better suit an application
