EPOCAP 43648

Main features

  • 10,000 cP Part A Viscosity
  • 100:14 43648/55137 Weight Mix
  • Composite and Electrical Potting Use

Product Description

EPOCAP 43648 Part A is the resin component of the EPOCAP 43648-55137 low-viscosity, two-component epoxy adhesive and laminating system. Part A is a clear amber liquid with typical viscosity of 10,000 cP and specific gravity of 1.16 at 25 deg C. In the paired system, 43648 Part A mixes with 55137 Part B at 100:14 by weight or 8.45:1 by volume. The paired system is used for reinforced-composite assembly, composite fabrication, laminating, and electrical potting. Cured-system values apply only to the 43648/55137 pairing and do not describe Part A alone.

Key features

  • Part A Viscosity: Typical viscosity is 10,000 cP at 25 deg C, with specific gravity of 1.16 for the clear amber resin.
  • 43648/55137 Mix Ratio: The paired system uses 100:14 by weight or 8.45:1 by volume.
  • Composite and Electrical Potting Use: The 43648/55137 system is used for composite assembly, fabrication, laminating, and electrical potting.

Applications

Resin component for the 43648-55137 composite assembly, laminating, and electrical-potting system.

Specific Gravity
Specific gravity (SG) is the ratio of the density of a substance to the density of a reference substance; equivalently, it is the ratio of the mass of a substance to the mass of a reference substance for the same given volume. For liquids, the reference substance is almost always water (1), while for gases, it is air (1.18) at room temperature. Specific gravity is unitless.

Physical Properties
Viscosity
Viscosity is a measurement of a fluid’s resistance to flow. Viscosity is commonly measured in centiPoise (cP). One cP is defined as the viscosity of water and all other viscosities are derived from this base. MPa is another common unit with a 1:1 conversion to cP. A product like honey would have a much higher viscosity -around 10,000 cPs- compared to water. As a result, honey would flow much slower out of a tipped glass than water would. The viscosity of a material can be decreased with an increase in temperature in order to better suit an application
